The Fluvanna County School Board opened its Sept. 10 meeting by honoring school bus driver Linda Christian for her response during a recent automobile accident involving one of the district’s buses. Board members commended Christian’s calm leadership, and she described neighbors and first responders who assisted at the scene.
Christian said she was "humbled by this" and emphasized the role that safety training played in her response: "I was just doing my job … it was that repetition that really helped with the whole situation." Board members invited family and colleagues to the front for photographs and a small token of appreciation.
During the first public‑comment period parent Sean Brennan introduced himself, thanked the board and announced his candidacy for the Columbia District seat; he also promoted a community fall festival at Pleasant Grove Park on Oct. 11 (11 a.m.–4 p.m.). In the second public comment round, Sarah Johnson welcomed the new board member and praised Ms. Sheridan’s preparation for her first official meeting.
No formal board action was required for the recognition; the board proceeded to business items following the remarks.
