"I think this would be a really good opportunity for us to move forward," Whitfield said, noting school‑campus siting at Lake Worth High School as a potential option and the district's interest in shared use. She advised a phased scope because full build‑out could be significantly more expensive: she estimated a basic Olympic‑sized pool at roughly $15 million and more elaborate amenities closer to $30 million.
Board members and staff raised operational questions about liability, maintenance, weekend access and long‑term costs. Superintendent Burke said the district can task staff (including operations and the COO) to work with the city manager to develop options and return with more detailed cost estimates, partnership terms and site evaluations.
