Public praise and operational update for Decatur SD 61 international teacher program

During public participation several community members commended Decatur SD 61's international teacher program as a response to teacher shortages and a source of intercultural enrichment. Gloria Chalmers, a district alumna and licensed substitute, cited national vacancy trends and said the program "has brought highly qualified, experienced, professional, and passionate teachers into our classrooms and our community." Other parents and community members echoed that sentiment and thanked district staff for community integration and support efforts.
