At the Aug. 20 meeting the Planning Commission’s executive secretary, Miss McAllister, reported that City Council on Aug. 12 rezoned the 'Bridal Sentiments' property from C‑1 retail to R‑8 high‑density multifamily and approved a conditional use permit for a small motor‑vehicle repair business. McAllister also listed items slated for the commission’s Sept. 3 agenda, including a conditional use permit for small motor vehicle repair at 15412 Warwick Boulevard, a conditional use permit for a preschool and day care at Emmanuel Baptist Church (69 Saunders Road), and zoning text amendments to regulate vape shops and implement site/subdivision regulatory changes required by the General Assembly.
In committee reports the regulations committee said it approved a modification to reduce the minimum lot size for self‑service ice vending machines from 2 acres to three‑quarters of an acre; commissioners clarified that the machines produce ice on site rather than merely selling prepackaged bags of ice.
No formal motions or votes on these items were recorded at the Planning Commission meeting; the items were reported for information and will appear on future agendas as noted by staff.
