Representatives of Gateway Community Charters (GCC) presented renewal materials to the Twin Rivers Unified Board for three schools. Superintendent Jason Sample introduced the Higher Learning Academy (HLA) renewal petition and described HLA as serving about 520 students, with 87 percent eligible for free or reduced-price lunch and a diverse demographic mix; he noted the school's IB primary-years authorization and cited local assessment gains (for example, an increase in reading proficiency from 14% to 29% reported in his presentation).
