Committee forwards Olympic Club—s Type 21 license request to full Board

The Public Safety and Neighborhood Services Committee voted to forward to the full Board of Supervisors a resolution recommending approval of a transfer of a Type 21 off-sale general liquor license to the Olympic Club at 524 Post Street in District 3.
Officer Foneras presented the ALU/PCN report for the Olympic Club, reporting zero letters of protest and zero letters of support and noting the property is in Census Tract 121, which the report described as a high-saturation or high-crime area. Central Station registered no opposition. For this location the ALU recommended approval with no conditions.
Abhi Sankar, identified in the hearing as director of the club, described the Olympic Club—s long history in San Francisco and said the club had previously operated under a Type 20/Type 51 club license that did not permit sealed-container off-premise sales. During the COVID pandemic regulatory relief allowed some clubs to add off-sale privileges; the club said it sought to make that capacity permanent to support members and generate revenue to fund community-oriented sports and wellness programs.
No members of the public spoke when called. The committee recorded roll-call votes with Supervisors Stephanie, Haney and Marr recorded as voting aye. The Chair directed the Clerk to prepare a resolution finding the license transfer would serve the public convenience and necessity and to forward it to the full Board with a positive recommendation. The matter will be considered by the full Board and ABC.
