Committee backs increases to tech procurement contract limits for Extech, X Tek and OnPoint

The Office of Contract Administration asked the Budget and Finance Committee to approve three contract-limit increases for vendors participating in the city's technology procurement pool so departments can continue to purchase products and services under the competitive RFP.
Galen Leung described the contracts as a set of competitively awarded vendor pools. The three proposed amendments would increase the products contract limit with Extech, raise a services-and-related-products contract for X Tek from $40 million to $60 million, and raise the OnPoint Technology Sales contract limit from $28,475,000 to $38,000,000. Leung said the contracts began 01/01/2009 with options to renew and that the Office of Contract Administration had exercised the first renewal option; one renewal option would still remain.
The Budget and Legislative Analyst reviewed expenditure data and concluded the increases were supported by purchasing patterns, including substantial prior usage of Extech and OnPoint by city departments. Public comment was not received on these items and the committee forwarded the three amendments to the Board with a recommendation.
