The budget analyst reported the department had a remaining balance of about $859,397 prior to the request and that approving the $308,709 release would leave roughly $550,006.08. The department said it intends to return next fiscal year for similar releases and is seeking additional grant funding sources beyond the original CPUC settlement.
Supervisors asked staff to track future releases and to consider broadening program focus beyond the Southeast sector; Monique Smuda of the Controller’s Office said financial‑system notes could flag future appropriations to help committee follow‑up. The committee approved the release without objection.
