Supervisors approve technical planning-code corrections; item passes unanimously

The Land Use and Transportation Committee unanimously recommended approval of an ordinance to correct errors in the Planning Code that staff said were accidentally repealed during an Article 2 reorganization. Aaron Starr, manager of legislative affairs for the Planning Department, told the committee the amendments update and clarify language without changing substantive policy and that the Planning Commission had unanimously recommended approval on Aug. 13.
The ordinance was presented as a straightforward “code corrections” measure. After a brief public comment period — including one extended, non-policy statement — Supervisor Kim moved that the committee give the ordinance a positive recommendation. The motion carried without objection and will appear on the Board of Supervisors agenda on Oct. 20, 2015, unless otherwise stated. No amendments to the measure were offered at committee.
The committee’s action advances minor technical fixes intended to restore previously existing language and simplify code text; staff said the changes are intended to reduce ambiguity in implementation. The measure will proceed to the full Board of Supervisors for final action.
