He described a text-alert protocol linking bars to police and fellow venues, and urged staggered closing times to reduce late-night street crowding and associated conflicts.
Public comment at the hearing included several endorsements for Eicher, including neighborhood association leaders who credited him with outreach and concrete actions on an unmonitored parking lot near a bar and collaborative safety efforts with SFPD.
During committee discussion, Supervisors recorded a roll call on the motion to forward Eicher's appointment: Supervisor Scott Wiener voted aye, Supervisor Mark Farrell voted aye and Chair Jane Kim voted no. The clerk recorded the tally as two ayes and one no; the motion passed.
The nomination will be considered by the full Board at its next scheduled meeting.
