The fiscal court approved annual updates to the county administrative code and adopted a new safety policy during its June 26 meeting.
Justin briefed the court on the administrative-code revisions, which were largely clerical changes and included converting vacation-language to hourly language to reflect departments that work four 10-hour days. The code also added more explicit maternity-leave language and will be distributed to departments for review and signature.
County staff and safety personnel described the new safety policy as a county-wide framework to align day-to-day practice with OSHA expectations; the county voluntarily pursued an OSHA inspection and received a positive report, staff said. Officials noted that while specific insurance-premium savings are not yet available, counties with safety programs typically see improved metrics and possibly lower premiums. The court voted to adopt both the admin-code updates and the safety policy and to publish the changes for employee review.
