Miles (planning staff) said the county will open public comment through Together Chaffee County and county email lists, allow roughly 30 days for input, produce draft amendments, bring the drafts to Planning Commission and BOCC work sessions in early August, and schedule Planning Commission and BOCC public hearings in the first two weeks of September (planning commission Sept. 2; BOCC Sept. 9).
Commissioners emphasized outreach — including case studies, photographs of projects, and clear notice for residents who are not regular meeting attendees — and discussed aligning definitions such as affordable housing with other local authorities. The board moved and approved the proposed schedule.
Staff also noted some recurring code issues (notice differences for appeals, maximum building coverage, affordable‑housing definitions, and certain map/zoning discrepancies) that the glitch bill is intended to address; the county will aggregate comments received through multiple channels into the packet for deliberation.
The action directs planning staff to begin the comment period and to return drafts for work‑session review and eventual public hearing. Members of the public and stakeholders are encouraged to provide detailed, evidence‑based comment during the 30‑day window.
