Levan public hearing on code amendments opens, closes with no public comment

On Dec. 4 at 6:30 p.m., meeting participants opened a public hearing on proposed amendments to the Levan Management and Development Code, which the town described as clarifications and corrections to ensure consistency with current state requirements for land use and subdivision planning.

The changes, Speaker 1 said, are intended to address wording and process clarifications in the town’s development and subdivision provisions and are available for review at the town office. "The town has proposed various amendments to Levan Management and Development Code to address various clarity and correction issues," Speaker 1 said, adding that the draft had been reviewed at a prior meeting and that a few edits remained pending.

With no members of the public appearing to speak during the allotted comment period, Speaker 1 moved to close the hearing and adjourn the meeting; Speaker 2 seconded the motion. "Well, if there's no public comment, I will maintain a motion to close this public hearing," Speaker 1 said. The motion carried on voice vote; participants answered "Aye." Participants also noted a brief discrepancy about the clock before agreeing the public comment window had closed at about 6:35 p.m.
