Commission OKs $2,525 amendment for water/wastewater rate-study materials; full study set for next meeting

The Huron City Commission approved Amendment No. 1 to the Banner Associates contract on Nov. 17, adding $2,525 to update tables, graphs and the simplified flyers used to present the city’s water and wastewater rate study.
City Engineer Brett Runge told the commission the full rate study is an extensive document (about 160 pages) and that the amendment covers work to make key findings easier for the public to understand by updating tables and graphics on printed flyers. He said the study and its recommendations will be presented at the next commission meeting.
When asked when the last study was completed, Runge said rate studies are performed every five years and the last one was done in 2020. The commission voted to approve the amendment by roll call.
The amendment is intended to improve public-facing materials that summarize complex tables and cost comparisons, Runge said, and will not itself change recommended rates; the larger rate-study recommendations will be considered at the upcoming presentation.
