The Preston City Council approved its consent calendar, which included the Nov. 25 minutes, payment of bills, the treasurer’s monthly report through Nov. 30, and two partial refunds. Councilors also voted to cancel the scheduled Dec. 23, 2024 meeting due to the holidays.
Public Works reported on completed conduit work that saved the sewer plant an estimated $37,000, water leak repairs, trimming for snowplows, trench patching, hauling rock for winter readiness and scheduled public-works hiring interviews for Dec. 27. The police chief reported 47 calls for service in November, 22 infractions, 12 misdemeanors, five felonies, 99 traffic stops and upcoming hiring and promotion steps.
Staff said the city submitted a downtown revitalization grant application and produced event videos for downtown promotion. Councilors reminded the public about an area-of-impact hearing with the county on Dec. 18 and upcoming recreation programs.
