Committee advances bill allowing CTE courses to substitute for core credits
A bipartisan panel advanced House Bill 1329 to permit career and technical education courses that meet or exceed core requirements to be substituted for equivalent graduation credits, giving students a clearer pathway into postsecondary and workforce options.

Rep. Scott Richardson presented House Bill 1329, which would allow students to substitute advanced career and technical education (CTE) coursework for core academic credits when the CTE class meets or exceeds the learning standards for that core subject. Richardson said the measure grew from local district needs and an effort to reduce duplication of coursework that sometimes prevents students from completing CTE sequences.
