Committee advances bill to strike obsolete Academic Challenge statute
Senate Bill 130, presented by Senator Stearch, struck language for an original Academic Challenge Scholarship that the sponsor said no longer serves any eligible students; the committee recommended the bill pass on consent.

Senator Stearch presented Senate Bill 130 as the companion to SB125, saying the text removes the original Academic Challenge Scholarship provisions because the students who would have been served under that section have completed their eligibility. "All students served under this section have, completed their eligibility," Stearch said, adding "so the program no longer used to exist." The sponsor characterized the measure as striking obsolete statutory language.
