At the start of the budget workshop, Speaker 1 said the senior citizen program faces a roughly $5,000 deficit and that the county (transcript: 'Monsoon County') may need to assume responsibility for the program. Speaker 1 told the board they had prepared a budget for the program and expected to cover the shortfall without increasing taxpayer costs.
