The Gonzales City Council voted to authorize the city manager to negotiate and execute a ground lease with Gonzales Dog Adoptions to support the organization’s fundraising and grant applications.
Mister Fogel (Speaker 3), representing the group, told council he received paperwork from Miss Vega that would allow negotiations with Manager Tim Crow and described a proposed service agreement expanded to a five-year term with a possible 10-year renewal. He said the group is continuing to raise funds and will need a land survey and city approvals to finalize a building site.
Councilmember Miller moved to approve Resolution 2024-127 authorizing the city manager to negotiate and execute the ground lease; Councilmember Kreidler seconded the motion and the council approved the resolution by voice vote.
Council discussion framed the measure as a step to make the organization more competitive for grants and foundation funding; council asked that negotiated lease terms come back for final approval before execution.
