The approval came after planning staff summarized the project and applicant Cameron Rogers of Rogers Construction described plans to remove a front garage door, shift the front entry and bring the roof forward to cover the existing upper porch. Rogers said the work is intended to 'clean it up' for homeowners who will move in full time and that the project does not change the building footprint. 'I've been builder here for 35 years,' Rogers said.
The property is zoned Village Residential with an Island Preservation overlay, and staff presented existing and proposed elevations and a site survey. A staff representative noted the proposed exterior and material changes and confirmed the remodel is within the village preservation review process. No one spoke in opposition during the public-hearing segment.
A commissioner moved to approve the village preservation design review (P P 24-6411); the motion was seconded and the chair called the vote, after which the commission approved the request. The transcript does not record individual vote-by-name tallies.
The commission then moved to its next agenda item, a rezone request for a separate Ocean Boulevard parcel, which was discussed but not decided at this meeting.
