Commission backs Magalia General Plan amendment and rezones, reclassifies one parcel as public for proposed Lake Ridge park
The commission recommended the Board of Supervisors approve a county-initiated General Plan amendment and rezonings in Magalia to support higher-density mixed-use and voted 3-1 to redesignate Parcel 66340-005 as public at the request of the Paradise Recreation and Park District.

Roland Hickel of Butte County Development Services presented a county-initiated General Plan amendment and rezone covering two Magalia areas (Magalia Center/Lake Ridge Circle and Old Magalia). Hickel said the amendments support strategies in the Upper Ridge Community Plan to increase residential density, allow a mix of housing types, and in some locations permit multifamily buildings as of right under proposed MU zoning.
