The Town of Lewisville adopted an amendment to chapter 16 of the town code establishing a clear policy for rentals interrupted by inclement weather.

Staff presented language that allows a renter whose reservation is interrupted by inclement weather to choose a full refund or request a reservation voucher. A refund or voucher must be requested within five business days of the original rental date; vouchers must be used within one year of the original rental and may only be applied to a rental of similar nature (facility/room, number of hours and number of attendees).

Stacy said inclement-weather days will be confirmed by a National Weather Service declaration of an emergency or severe warning or by the town manager or designee. Council approved ordinance 2024-040 unanimously; staff said the updates give staff consistent direction for handling interrupted reservations.
