Pratt County commission approves EMS hire, membership dues and routine resolutions

At its Sept. 23 session, the Pratt County Commission approved several routine personnel and administrative items, including hiring a full-time EMS employee, renewing a membership, authorizing records destruction and approving county planning resolutions.

The commission returned from a brief executive session on new hires and voted to hire Bailey Krug as a full-time EMS employee at $16.50 per hour. The motion was moved and seconded and carried by voice vote.

The board approved a membership payment of $2,629.43 to Great Plains Development after a presentation by Bob Wetmore, executive co-director, who outlined recent changes to CDBG and revolving-loan programs and offered assistance packaging grant and loan applications for small communities. Commissioners voted in favor of renewing the county membership.

Other items approved on the consent/business agenda included: - Authorization for the county clerk to destroy ballot envelopes and social records from the November 2022 general election as permitted by retention policy. - Concurrence with the city on an urban area boundary resolution and approval of the state’s functional classification designations for county roads. - Approval of vouchers and routine minutes from prior meetings.

Clarifying details: the EMS hire is full-time at $16.50 per hour and an ambulance delivery date of Oct. 17 was referenced for related operations; Great Plains Development membership was $2,629.43; the clerk was authorized to schedule destruction of 2022 election materials in November under established retention rules.

Commissioners also discussed filling a communications technician role (radios/dispatch) after the incumbent’s retirement; compensation previously paid was reported at roughly $50–$55 per hour and department heads requested the position be advertised and filled.

The meeting closed after approval of final items and voucher payments.
