A nomination to the Stafford County Economic Development Authority failed on June 18 after several supervisors said the nominee’s employment raised the appearance of a conflict of interest. Doctor Young and other board members urged support for the volunteer nominee, praising her community service and CTE involvement; Supervisor Vannouch and others said the nominee’s current role in permitting for a local builder could undermine the EDA’s credibility and the board’s recent effort to refocus the authority on local business development.
