Fauquier County planners on Oct. 17 recommended that the Board of Supervisors approve a Marshall Code text amendment to allow administrative permits for certain temporary events in the Marshall Residential District.
Ms. Wise told the commission the change was initiated by the Board of Supervisors and would correct an oversight after the form-based code adoption that left some longstanding fundraising events — historically held on Marshall Volunteer Fire Department properties — subject to more onerous special-permit requirements. The amendment would limit the administrative permit to properties owned or leased by a local government agency or to events sponsored by a county department, and it would preserve existing sanitation, traffic and safety standards.
Unidentified Speaker 4 moved to recommend approval to the Board of Supervisors and Unidentified Speaker 8 seconded; the motion was approved by voice vote. Commissioners said the amendment would streamline permitting for small community fundraisers while keeping safety standards in place.
The recommendation forwards the text amendment to the Board of Supervisors for final action.
