Board approves audit, appropriations, vehicle purchases and multiple appointments

- A $26,398 reappropriation of an insurance settlement to replace a county vehicle (item 12a). - A $49,975 reappropriation from a dealer buyback to purchase a replacement parks-and-rec vehicle (item 12b). - A $14,489 appropriation from the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant to fund sheriff's overtime for high-impact enforcement (item 12c).
"The county has received an insurance settlement check of $26,398," a staff member said when introducing item 12a.
The board also awarded a contract to a North Chesterfield Ford dealer for $215,871 to purchase five Ford Police Interceptor utility vehicles at $42,174.20 each under the Virginia Sheriffs Association procurement program (item 12d). The dealership name appears with inconsistent spellings in the record; the packet referenced a Ford dealer in North Chesterfield. The motion to award the contract was moved, seconded and approved.
In other business, the board set its 2025 organizational meeting for Jan. 6, 2025, at 1 p.m., and moved into and returned from a closed session where it handled appointments. After the closed session the board reappointed multiple citizen members to boards and commissions, including anchor commission reappointments for Jeanette Heard, Pamela Bridal and Bonnie Fivero (terms to expire Dec. 31, 2028) and Barry Jarrett to the Ninth District Development Financing Board (term expiring Dec. 2026). The board also approved a conveyance of 19.64 acres with deed restrictions tied to the Land and Water Conservation Act of 1965.
