Augusta County supervisors approved a request from Project Grows to install rooftop solar panels on the barn it operates at Berry Farm.
Staff said Project Grows has an opportunity for grant funding and requested permission under the terms of its lease to place rooftop solar on the barn to power its operations. "They have an opportunity to get some grant funds... and they would like to put solar facilities on the rooftop of that barn," staff said.
A motion to approve the request was made and seconded; the board adopted the approval with one abstention recorded in the transcript.
What happens next: Project Grows may proceed with grant applications and rooftop installation subject to any standard building, electrical and lease‑approval requirements.
