Alamance County commissioners appointed Amy Perkins as interim tax assessor on Dec. 2 to enable the Board of Equalization and Review to consider outstanding appeals.
County staff explained that Perkins, who currently serves as a tax assistant in the tax office, is willing to serve on an interim basis while the tax director position remains vacant. County staff told commissioners the appointment is needed so appeals left over from the Board of Equalization and Review can be heard. The board moved, seconded and approved the interim appointment by voice vote.
The board also approved its consent agenda unanimously. The chair noted the Lifestar Ambulance franchise had its first reading at the prior meeting and was on the consent agenda for second reading and final approval; the consent agenda also included approval of bonds for public officials (for example, the sheriff and others required to be bonded). The clerk recorded the consent vote as "Unanimous."
