Alamance County swears in officials, elects Paisley chair and Carter vice chair

At its Dec. 2 meeting, Alamance County swore in multiple officials, presented a plaque to outgoing commissioner William Thomas Lashley, elected John Paisley chair (4–1) and Steve Carter vice chair (unanimous).
Alamance County on Dec. 2 swore in several elected and appointed officials and elected new leadership for the Board of Commissioners.
The board presented a plaque recognizing William Thomas Lashley for his four years of service. Lashley said he was "very honored" to have served and thanked county staff and fellow commissioners for the opportunity.
Judge Green administered oaths to John Paisley, Ed Priola and Kelly Allen to serve as county commissioners. Pamela Tyler Thompson was sworn in separately later in the meeting. David Michael Spruill took the oath as Alamance County Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisor, and David Barber was sworn as Register of Deeds.
After the swearing-in proceedings, the board opened nominations for chair. Steve Carter was nominated but did not receive a second. John Paisley was nominated and seconded; the board recorded a 4–1 vote in favor of Paisley. The board then nominated Steve Carter for vice chair; that motion was seconded and passed unanimously.
The newly constituted board thanked outgoing members, welcomed returning and new officials and signaled priorities for the coming term. The chair and vice chair will serve for the next year, as per the commission’s annual practice.
