Commission authorizes tax-sale resolution, approves two licenses and holds executive sessions

Dickinson County commissioners approved several routine and statutory actions at their Dec. 19 meeting, including a resolution authorizing judicial foreclosure and sale for delinquent tax parcels, two retail-license approvals, and brief executive sessions.

Staff advised the commission that COVID-related delays had left tax-sale activity pending for several years and asked permission to proceed. The county administrator (Doug) said the slate includes parcels with delinquencies ranging from 2017 through 2023, totaling 35 parcels; commissioners moved, seconded and approved Resolution 12-19-24 authorizing judicial foreclosure and sale. Staff said it would prepare the paperwork to proceed.

The commission approved a beverage/retail license for Enterprise Mini Mart after confirming township approval. The board also approved a license for All 4 Seasons.

The board entered executive session twice for privileged personnel discussions: one session covering commissioners and staff, and a second short session concerning non-elected personnel (15 minutes), both entered by motion and carried by voice vote. The chair said on return that action had been taken during executive session.

Other items included a reminder about a Planning & Zoning vacancy, year-end office work, and scheduling a special election in Abilene on Feb. 4 to vote on a 0.35% sales-tax proposal for recreation-facility improvements. Early voting was announced to run Jan. 15 through Feb. 3, and polls on Feb. 4 were scheduled 7 a.m.–7 p.m.; a registration deadline read in the meeting ('January 2020') appears to be a transcription error and should be verified with county election staff.

The meeting adjourned after the board completed its agenda.
