Severance names three to tree board, selects alternate

Because the number of applicants matched the number of vacancies, the council proceeded without a ballot. Councilmember Myers moved to appoint Bill Hill, Patrick Ryan and Mark White to the three open positions and to name Bill West as the alternate. Each of the appointees provided a short introduction: White described a background in resource planning and teaching, Hill said he owns a commercial landscape business and Ryan shared local experience and interest.

The mayor explained the tree board advises on tree species and placement under the town’s Tree City USA criteria, participates in planning reviews, and typically meets monthly. The council acknowledged that the role does not require formal arborist certification and encouraged appointees to engage with the board’s work.
