Citrus County commissioners spent their legislative planning retreat refining a short list of state and federal priorities and directing staff to develop funding requests for the county—s Jan. 27 delegation meeting.
The board placed the Inverness Airport Industrial/Business Park access improvements, the Halls River multiuse path and a replacement fire station among its top appropriation priorities, saying those projects have the best mix of local "skin in the game" and potential regional impact. Chair Holman Vase opened the retreat by asking commissioners to "think boldly" about where the county should go and how to get there; James Toye, the county—s intergovernmental relations manager, presented a packet of recommended requests.
