Superintendent Dr. Sylvia Rios read the resolution to the board, which noted that FSP state aid appropriations had fallen from $50.8 billion in 2021 to $47.8 billion in 2023 and that total state appropriations for public education declined from $51.7 billion to $48.6 billion over the same period. The resolution called on lawmakers to enact adjustments for inflation and to ensure stable funding that sustains educational operations and student outcomes.
The board moved and seconded the resolution and approved it by voice vote. Trustees said in remarks that funding stability is critical for district planning and for preserving services to students, and they urged state action to address the cited declines.
