County approves design amendment and grant applications for downtown library multiuse space

Commissioners also approved two grant applications to support the 296 Main Street project: a Community Green Infrastructure Grant application to the Oregon Department of Land Conservation and Development with potential revenue of $500,000 and an Oregon State Parks Local Government Grant Program application with potential total funding of $1,000,000 (50% match required, with $250,000 from library reserves and $250,000 from another grant if awarded). Commissioners noted the grants would substantially reduce the county's local funding requirements if successful.
The board voted to approve the contract amendment and authorized submission of both grant applications; staff will proceed with the design work and, if grants are awarded, with construction planning.
