Father says district challenged student transfer, alleges possible bullying and plans complaint

Steve Moore of Dalton used the public-comment portion of the Tunkhannock Area SD meeting to describe his family's long ties to the district and to object to the district’s handling of his son’s summer transfer. Moore said district staff and officials — whom he identified in his remarks — challenged his son’s eligibility under PIAA transfer rules, a step he said could prevent the student from playing interscholastic sports this year.
Moore said he had learned of communications between school staff and board-area individuals that, according to third-party reports he received, may violate district policies on bullying and harassment and potentially cross the line of Pennsylvania’s harassment law (PA 2709). He said he intends to file a formal complaint and asked the district to conduct a “diligent and rigorous” investigation. Moore also warned the board that he may take further action if the investigation substantiates the reported conduct.
The board chair acknowledged the comment and said the district would follow established procedures for handling complaints and investigations; no formal board action on the transfer or the complaint was recorded at the meeting.
