Shoreline School Board reviews human-resources overhaul, plans civility policy and diversity goals

Stirk said the district moved to electronic fingerprinting, “which may seem like a small thing, but it's absolutely huge,” explaining the change has sped onboarding and allowed HR to confirm clearances more quickly. She described other process shifts — converting contracts and evaluations to digital formats, producing a hiring handbook and a supervisor training guide, and streamlining absence- and leave-request workflows — as foundational work that will let the district focus on recruiting and retaining a diverse, high-quality workforce.
