Conservation board shares project updates; schedules public talk and winter program

At its Dec. 19 meeting the Grand Island Conservation Advisory Board reviewed several project updates, confirmed participation in upcoming events including a Jan. 7 public talk by David Spiering at the library and a winter-sowing demonstration, and reported planning activity for long-range open-space work.
After concluding its discussion of the EED parcels, the board ran brief committee and project updates. Members said a public program is set for Jan. 7 at 6 p.m. at the library when David Spiering will review past and present island projects and future plans. The board also announced a winter-sowing demonstration scheduled for late January at a local site and said it will have a presence for Birds Eye Niagara in February. The Open Space Committee said it is ready to begin consultant work in January with a kickoff meeting tentatively scheduled for Jan. 21; board members were invited to participate.
Separately, members discussed ongoing site-plan work on other local projects (references included Gulfview, Town Commons planning and Gun Creek), noted engineering and sewer constraints in some proposals, and encouraged board members to share feedback at upcoming public- and committee-level sessions. The meeting closed with a motion to adjourn at 8:58 PM.
