Wagoner County approves multiple zoning code amendments, conditional use and routine invoices

At its Dec. 16 meeting the Wagoner County Board approved several planning and zoning code changes and a conditional use request, and handled multiple routine invoices and grant agreements.

Planning and zoning staff described a set of proposed amendments designed to clarify administrative processes and reduce homeowner burdens. Casey Sanders said the code changes would: allow specific building‑line exceptions for accessory structures in some subdivision situations (resolution 2024‑126); permit the county engineer to approve modest impervious‑area increases up to 5 percent without requiring a drainage analysis for very small lots (resolution 2024‑127); formally codify a sign‑posting requirement accompanying zoning‑map amendments that staff already enforces (resolution 2024‑128); and create a procedure to request removal or modification of limits‑of‑no‑access without full replatting (resolution 2024‑129). The board approved the package on roll call after staff said the changes are intended to reduce expense and administrative burden for property owners while preserving review safeguards.

The board also approved a conditional use (resolution 2024‑125) to allow a mini‑storage facility at a location described in the packet. In addition, commissioners approved routine items including a contract addendum payment to ECC ($5,856.65) for JPOD doors, a VIP invoice of $18,290.67 paid from a grant for interview‑room recording equipment, an OEM/911 grant agreement (approximately $65,000) to support EMD training, a physician medical‑director agreement for 911 at $100 per month, and a $1,680 invoice for off‑site inmate housing.

What’s next: Planning staff will continue to process exception requests under the revised rules and will bring individual exceptions to the board in cases where they raise accountability concerns, per a commissioner request.
