The oath was administered in the meeting room; Rolfes recited the oath in full, beginning, "I, Christine Rolfes, do solemnly swear ... that I am legally qualified to assume the office of Kitsap County Commissioner District 1," and pledged to "faithfully and impartially discharge the duties of this office to the best of my ability." Colleagues applauded and offered congratulations after the oath.
Commissioners and members of the public used the meeting to thank Garrido for years of service. An online commenter identified as Chris offered personal remarks to Garrido, recalling decades of shared public- and community-service work. Commissioners also recognized Garrido’s recent leadership on homelessness efforts, including redevelopment of the Pacific building into a shelter and services site.
The board adjourned the Dec. 9 session after brief remarks and farewells; the handover of duties to Rolfes completes the seating change for District 1 announced in recent weeks.
