Board updated on middle-school construction; blasting set for Christmas break, temporary bus routing planned

Officials said phase 1 includes site blasting to carve a temporary or permanent access road that will allow buses and equipment to circulate while foundation and retaining-wall work proceeds. A construction manager told the board the blasting is scheduled over the Christmas break to avoid students being present and that the team will open a temporary loop to divert bus traffic while work continues.
Presenters said selective interior demolition is under way in locker-room areas adjacent to the gym, that foundations for retaining walls are being poured and that subsurface storm/utility work will start as weather permits. Staff warned the board that, because much work is being done while the campus remains occupied, there may be minor disruptions and the district and contractor will coordinate closely with principals and transportation staff.
