City engineering reports: several water infrastructure projects complete or in design

City engineering and operations administrator Joe Mihalski updated the Water Board on multiple capital projects: Price Park tank is substantially complete and the pump station has been commissioned; the Lower North Saint Vrain pipeline lining project (about 1,600 feet of 24‑inch pipe) has been completed and returned to service after a summer outage; and the Montgomery tank replacement project is about 30% into design and will require a 1041 permit and historic‑preservation review.
"Price Park tank is substantially complete," Joe Mihalski told the board, adding that the pump station is commissioned and the tank is now in service. On the Lower North Saint Vrain project, Mihalski noted the work required taking a raw water service offline during peak demand and said operations adapted during a challenging summer period that included a nearby fire.
On the Montgomery replacement, Mihalski said the existing 6,000,000‑gallon steel tank (built in the 1960s) has corrosion and structural issues; the proposed replacement is an approximately 8,000,000‑gallon, half‑buried tank located just northeast of the existing structure so the existing tank can remain in service during construction. Staff said the parcel has a historic designation and that the project will require historic‑preservation board review as part of permitting.
Next steps: staff will continue design and permitting for Montgomery, pursue geotechnical work and permits for the Nelson Flanders forebay repairs, and bring updates on schedules and funding to future meetings.
