The Nueces County Commissioners Court opened its Dec. 2, 2015, meeting in the commissioner’s courtroom at the Nueces County Courthouse with an invocation by Bishop Emeritus Carmody and the pledges of allegiance, then moved to table several agenda items until they are reached later in the docket.
Presiding official announced at the outset that multiple items would be deferred. "So my motion is to table all those as we begin the meeting today," the presiding official said when formally moving to table the items. The items named included D1 (call-to-order page), item H on the consent agenda, regular-agenda item 4A2, auditor items F4, F5 and F6, and executive-session item 5C.
The court certified the meeting time and quorum: the presiding official stated the meeting began at 9:15 a.m., Dec. 2, 2015, in the commissioners courtroom and that a quorum was present. Bishop Emeritus Carmody delivered the invocation, asking a blessing "for those in public service" and for justice and peace in the community.
After the motion was offered, members provided a second and the presiding official called for a voice vote. Members signaled their assent and dissent verbally; the presiding official instructed that the identified items would be recorded as tabled when the agenda reaches them. No roll-call tally was given on the record.
The court then moved on with the agenda. The presiding official noted staff (identified in the record as Laura) had previously prepared to mark the listed items as tabled when they appear on the docket.
The meeting opened at 9:15 a.m., and the segment on the record ends shortly after the tabling motion was approved by voice.
