The Coppell City Council on Dec. 10 approved a resolution amending the city's master fee schedule to reflect a 3% annual escalation included in the city's contract with Republic (renewed Sept. 22, 2020). Staff said the contract requires the adjustment and the council voted to adopt the corresponding updates to the master fee schedule.
Staff explained the residential rate increases from $19.33 to $19.91 per month (a 58¢ monthly increase, $6.96 annually). The senior rate moves from $17.39 to $17.92 per month (a 53¢ monthly increase, $6.36 annually). Commercial rates in the resolution also reflect the 3% increase.
Staff noted the city does not subsidize Republic’s costs; the increase is passed directly to citizens in accordance with the existing contract. The resolution confirms council’s prior actions and updates the master fee schedule and authorizes the mayor to sign the implementing documents.
Next steps: changes take effect Jan. 1, 2025; staff will notify customers and update billing systems.
