Pruett said she began work full time about two to three weeks ago after finishing a teaching contract elsewhere and has already attended local club meetings. She listed upcoming events: a county horse show at Downs Arena on June 24, a rescheduled 4‑H rodeo on July 11 at Black Hills Rodeo Roundup Grounds and a local dog show on July 18, plus static workdays to prepare fair projects.
The educator told commissioners Lawrence County currently has four 4‑H clubs, compared with roughly 10–11 clubs in neighboring Bell, and said she wants to grow membership so the program can be sustained locally. Commissioners and attendees welcomed Pruett and emphasized life‑skills opportunities for youth from shooting sports to project work.
Pruett said she’s been meeting families, coordinating with area schools and planning outreach at community events to raise visibility for 4‑H. The commission did not take any formal action on the presentation; members thanked her and encouraged outreach efforts.
