The Mercer County Board authorized additional engineering work to complete an updated county land‑use map and to produce design documents for a building renovation grant application.
Speaker 5 moved that the county "proceed with more engineering to completing the land use map," and Speaker 3 seconded. Commissioners discussed scope and dependencies, including that GIS parcel pulls would be used for up‑to‑date mapping and that some percentage of map work had already been completed, which may reduce cost.
Separately, the board approved a fee proposal for Moore Engineering to prepare floor plans and other documents required for a renovation grant application. Speaker 3 explained the firm will provide a preliminary design, after which the county may review and request tweaks prior to finalizing the grant package. Commissioners noted including an EV charging station in the grant package could strengthen the application; Speaker 4 said adding an EV charger would be a public benefit and help scoring for grant selection.
Motion to approve the engineering authorization and fee proposal passed on a roll call vote. Moore Engineering will complete the floor plan and building design documents and work with county staff on the grant submission.
