The Milford Inland Wetlands Commission approved a jurisdictional ruling Dec. 3 allowing an in‑ground pool, a pervious paver patio and legalization of an existing shed at 44 Settlers Ridge.
Chair Brenda Magnan opened discussion after staff described the location and constrained topography near mapped wetlands. Mary Rose told the commission the proposed pool sits “about, I think 25 feet approximately from the wetland line,” with the pervious paver patio roughly five feet closer. Rose also said the shed on the property appears in aerial imagery dating back to 2005.
Owner Rosanna Willis and contractor Dave Fiore answered commissioners’ questions about where excavated fill would be placed on the lot. Fiore identified the intended fill area adjacent to the pool and described how the fill would be placed on site to level the yard.
After brief discussion, the commission moved to a jurisdictional ruling to approve the pool, the paver patio and to legalize the shed. The motion passed on a roll‑call vote; recorded 'Aye' responses during the roll call included Dan Bedeker, Ranjit Bahav, Brian Black, Jim Connors, Buddy Field, Ray Gradwell and Brenda Magnan. The chair announced, “The motion carries.”
Staff was directed to process the jurisdictional ruling through the office and provide any follow‑up requirements to the applicant. The commission wished the applicants well and closed the item.
