City staff presented a timeline for appointing a city clerk to fill the vacancy following a failed ballot measure to eliminate the office. Staff said they would post the application Jan. 12, close applications Jan. 23, hold council interviews Feb. 2, and appoint the clerk Feb. 9; the city charter was cited as limiting options (no special election) and staff said they will review compensation-language constraints in the charter before finalizing terms.
