Board approves Class B-1 license for Eaglewood under new owner after code amendment

The Village of Itasca board on Nov. 4 approved amending Section 112.2 of the Itasca Municipal Code to accommodate changes in Class B-1 liquor licenses following the sale of Eaglewood Resort and Spa and granted a license to the new operating entity, Arbor Lodging LLC (owners identified in the meeting as Shunal Patel and a partner).
Trustee Leahy explained that the motion would add an additional liquor license to the new entity and that fingerprinting and background checks had been completed for the new owners and the general manager. The board clarified how lodging licenses operate: the license allows retail sale of alcoholic beverages for consumption on premises and sale in the original package (for off-premises consumption), covering hotel bars, restaurants and mini-bars under a single lodging license.
Board members discussed first reducing the number of authorized Class B-1 licenses from 3 to 2 in response to the sale, then increasing the number back to 3 to allocate a license to the new Eaglewood operator. Following motion, second and roll-call votes, the board approved the code amendment and the issuance of a Class B-1 license for Arbor Lodging LLC at 1401 Nordic Road.
What’s next: The new license application will be processed under village procedures and the license will be subject to the standard local licensing requirements and state law.
