West Bend to pilot Elmbrook small-group math framework after declines in elementary scores
District curriculum staff presented a pilot to strengthen daily small-group math instruction after K–5 STAR proficiency dropped 11 points and 3rd/5th-grade Forward math scores fell five points year over year. The plan uses an Elmbrook framework, coaching from CESA 6, and partial Kepner-grant funding, with a short-term target of 10% proficiency growth for intervention students.

Kelly Downs, director of curriculum instruction for the West Bend School District, told the curriculum committee Dec. 2 that the district will pilot a small-group math framework copied from Elmbrook School District to address declining elementary math proficiency.
