Year-end code-enforcement report: multiple demolitions, fines paid and several open citations

Participants in an unnamed municipal code-enforcement meeting reviewed a year-end enforcement report and updated the group on the status of dozens of property cases.

S1 reported several properties have been removed or demolished, including a burned house that the owner had demoed and multiple addresses described as "gone." S1 also noted property preservation intervened on one abandoned lot, an appliance was removed and fines were paid, resolving that case: "Property preservation took over...and paid the the fines." Several other properties were reported as addressed by owners during the citation process, for example S1 said, "19...paid that fine," while some cases remain unresolved and staff have sent reminder letters.

The report classified cases into categories staff use to track work: S1 explained that "Reactive" cases originate from complaints while "Proactive" cases are identified by staff inspections; S1 said some cases produced no citation. The packet includes a final page that lists the year’s citations, which staff expect to clear on several items this month.

Staff identified a handful of specific operational issues. S1 said a frame remains at a Maple Street property after debris removal, requiring a return visit: "the frame is still there, though. So we'll have to hit that again." Case 25 was described as ongoing despite multiple contacts, with staff "still definitely working on it." Several properties on Carson Drive and other streets were noted as paid or in process — for example, S1 reported a property (case 44) was updated by staff and the owner "paid all the costs."

For enforcement steps requiring outside coordination, S1 said case 60 is in the citation process and case 61 will require coordination with "Lori and the police department" to determine next steps. S1 also said some cases involve animal-control or towing: "...and then 14, this is the 1 that we're gonna have to tow."

The meeting closed with staff identifying follow-up actions: investigate outstanding fees, confirm the status of properties with deceased owners, coordinate towing and police involvement where needed, and reconvene on unresolved cases. No formal vote or ordinance change was recorded during the discussion.

Next procedural steps include staff research and operational follow-up; S1 and S2 indicated individual cases will be pursued administratively and scheduled for resolution where possible.
